Hi. My name is Alix and you’ve found my blog. Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world. I live in Portland Oregon where I’ve lived almost all my life, save a few short moves to Philadelphia and Sydney Australia. Food has not always been an important part of my life and until I moved away for college, I didn’t give it much of a second thought. However, when I moved across the country for college away from every person I called friend or family, I struggled to find a place for myself. After quite a lot of struggling and no small amount of tears, I found it at a cafeteria table. Halfway through my freshman year, I looked up from my meal and saw all my friends gathered around the table talking and laughing, sharing meals and sharing stories. Food (even atrociously bad cafeteria food) brings people together.
Since then I’ve come to believe that our interaction with food helps create who we are; you can learn a lot about someone by sharing a meal with them. So please, come into my kitchen, sit down at my table, and let’s get to know each other!
